Getting here

Ferries from Singapore (HarbourFront & Tanah Merah) reach Batam in ~60–90 min. Batu Ampar, Sekupang, Harbour Bay & Nongsapura are the main terminals.

🚕

Getting around

Grab (ride-hailing) works city-wide and is the easiest way around. Blue-bird style taxis and car+driver hire are common for day trips and Barelang bridges.

🛂

Visa & entry

Many nationalities enter visa-free or with Visa-on-Arrival for short tourist stays. Bring a passport valid 6+ months. Check your country's latest rules before you travel.

📶

Stay connected

Local SIM/eSIM (Telkomsel has the best coverage) is cheap and sold at terminals and malls. Most hotels, cafés and malls have Wi-Fi.

🩹

Health & safety

Batam is generally safe for tourists. Drink bottled water, use sunscreen, and keep valuables secure in crowds. Emergency: 112 (general), 118 (ambulance).

🕌

Local etiquette

Indonesia is Muslim-majority — dress modestly at religious sites, ask before photographing people, and a friendly "terima kasih" (thank you) goes a long way.
